At Evenlode Primary School, our Expressive Arts curriculum is driven by our engaging 'Hook and Book' approach, where high-quality texts and memorable experiences inspire creativity and provide meaningful contexts for learning. Through Art, Drama and Music, pupils develop ideas by exploring themes, stories and experiences before transforming them into creative outcomes.
They master techniques and build a strong skill set that enables them to communicate their ideas with confidence, whether through visual artwork, performance or musical composition. Children learn to interpret and present their work for an audience, understanding how artistic techniques and creative languages convey meaning and emotion. By responding to and drawing inspiration from the work of significant artists, performers and musicians throughout history and across cultures, pupils deepen their appreciation of the arts and their own creative potential.
Every class has the opportunity to share and celebrate their learning through a class assembly, performance or exhibition that showcases the creative journey at the heart of the Evenlode curriculum.
